Back from Boston
(Aug 1, 2000)
OK, I'm back from Boston. Despite the bag fiasco, I had a wonderful time. I went Saturday and bought clothes and a swimsuit and I was set for the rest of the weekend. We walked all around Boston and we took a tour and we ate Ethiopian food and went white water rafting and I hated to come home again. Click here to discuss this

Boston
(Jul 28, 2000)
Arrived in Boston today. Lost a bag. All my clothes were in the bag. I'm in Boston until Monday with only the clothes on my back. Lovely. *sigh* Click here to discuss this

Update to the list of things
(Jul 26, 2000)
1. ANSWERING MACHINE!!!! Compaq called AGAIN! They are persistent. My darling S.O. has lent me his answering machine for the rest of the week in the hopes that they will call back and leave me a message. I kept hoping they would call me at work, or somehow manage to call when I was actually at home, but NOOOOO..... Ay me life is so exciting sometimes.
2. Toaster Oven I got a blender, and decided not to get a mixer just yet, but the toaster oven remains on my list.
3. Dining Table. I had my darling over for dinner last night and we sat on the floor with our plates on my coffee table. While it was admittedly very romantic, I am not giving up on the idea of getting a real table. Perhaps if I renounce satan my sister will consider selling me her lovely table I had my heart so set on. Since I don't believe in satan to begin with, renouncing him/her/it wouldn't be a big stretch.
4. Couch. I don't really care so much about this, but it's one of those things that just seems to belong on a list like this.

Things I Need for my New Apartment
(Jul 25, 2000)
1. Answering machine. I had two calls on my caller ID box from Compaq Computers. I don't know if it was about the job application I put in, or some other thing. Gotta get a machine...
2. Blender. Margaritas y gazpacho. Me gusta.
3. Mixer. Maybe. I mean, when you think about it, meringue was invented before mixers. If french chefs can make meringue and mayonaise by hand, then I should be able to mix a box cake...
4. Toaster Oven. It just heats up the whole apartment when I use the oven to broil toast.
5. Couch. I have a nice, comfy overstuffed chair for myself, but what if I have guests?
6. Dining table. My sister has one in storage that she was going to give me, but then we got into a huge argument over whether or not my immortal soul is doomed to eternal damnation because I let my daughter watch Pokeman and read Harry Potter books, and the table thing just got....well, tabled.
What am I leaving out?

Too sleepy for elevator music
(Jul 24, 2000)
I think I got about 2 hours of sleep last night. Now, I'm on hold. The music in my ear is this awful, soothing, elevator-type music. I mainly decided to do this journal entry in an attempt to keep myself from falling asleep before I get off hold.
The rain yesterday didn't do much. Everything is so dry that the water just ran off into the Bayous and left the ground as hard and brown as ever. It's just odd. I hope this drought is an El Nino thing and not caused by global warming or something permanent like that. I'll have to move to Seattle or something to get my rain quota otherwise. I must definitely get some sleep tonight. I always have trouble remembering how to spell "definitely." That's correct, isn't it? hmm...
Oh well, back to the elevator music. Click here to discuss this
