I bet, their is a trick to call the fire brigade by pushing a button(must have a second look!)...but not a "private"emergency call!
Hi All, Just returned from holiday in Egypt so apologies for dropping out of convo for a while. I have a mobile phone but use it only for texting my wife or emergencies. Hardly ever use it have an actual conversation. There are people at work with Blackberry devices...now thay are truly intrusive devices. No differntiation between work and home time..your always contactable
What truly frightens me is not what we have but where were going with all technology.Anyone who thinks that Matrix is total fantasy should consider that it was thought that the communication devices used on Star trek were fantasy...then came mobile phones.
Leading edge technology is developing wearable devices built into clothes etc, couple that with GPRS ( Satellite positioning) and were all gonna be slaves eventually.
Hmmmm.... don't know about slaves. That episode of Doctor Who where they all have news and music and radio transmitted straight into their brains by some tiny device in their ear gives me the creeps. I really hope we're not like that sometime in the not-too-distant future.
Another complaint I have is that I can't recycle as much as I would like. Most (2/3) of my domestic waste is made of cardboard and plastic containers. My local authority is unwilling to collect plastic and cardboard and advises residents to take it to the local recycling centre. Problem is, I don't drive, and it's difficult to take bags full of bottles and boxes on the bus. And why should I have to, anyway?
Rant over.
It appears to me like a stagnation of real creativity who would create real solutions fighting pollution and social division...instead of that, the eternal "improvement"of electric toys for the profit of few...DISTRACTION FROM THE ESSENTIALS!

Does anyone else find it infuriating when you're in a meeting/cinema and someone's phone goes off? It's so irritating mobile/cell phones make you in reach all the time, but when people don't turn them off or put them on silent st times like that.
a bit like people talking private matters loudly in public spaces into their cellphones as if everybody around them had to be involved!

Oh yeah! Well it's a pain when they talk loudly on their phone in public no matter the subject.
Just so rude.
