I used to have thick wavy auburn hair. In a fit of impulsivity (some say insanity) I decided to have the sides shaved, leaving a strip down the center of my scalp longer. Now I have my mohawk and I love it, and I was able to donate 4 normal-sized ponytails (my hair was that thick!) of 13 1/2 inches. Although interacting with people is quite different now that I have a "punk" hairdo (esp. mothers thinking I'm going to eat their children), I am very glad I did it, and I hope some of my die-hard spunkalicious vibe gets passed on to a little girl!
