What a cracking article!
biggrin
I'm really pleased to see an item on those super books-and what a nice article it is!
It should be in one of the mags you see in the TinTin books-with an ad for Brol-soap powder on the back! winkeye
did you know...that the words are slightly different in the American versions compared to the British ones?
esp. in Secret of the Unicorn.
Well done!

Hi Primord!

Thanks for your comments! <smile>

In my research, I discovered that there are a few different versions that have been edited for political correctness at various times, but I didn't know that the UK and US versions were different. What are the differences??

Best wishes

Hi!
there are tiny little differences-but weird
for example, in Red Rackham's treasure-round about p25-when Captain Haddock goes ashore on the Island,
in my sister's 1959 New York edition the text is:
Tintin "Gosh What happened to him?"
"what's wrong Captain? are you hurt"
Haddock "No, I stubbed my toe against that thingumajig, and my gun went off..."

but in the Brit edition it goes
Tintin "Crumbs! What's happened to him?"
"Captain, What was it? are you hurt?"
Haddock "No, I stubbed my toe against that thing and fell over. That's how the gun went off..."
and many other insignificant differences!

love those books-grew up reading them.
nice to see an article on here!
