<SUBHEADER> THOUGHTS ON HISTORY IN HISTORY is the first part of this project and it tries to show the actual impact of historians on the history of the last 200 years </SUBHEADER>
<P> The aim of this project is to explore the role of history past, present and future, with the aim of establishing:- (a) the potency of an overview of history as an empowering element in the conduct of human affairs, and (b) some ideas of how history can further our understanding of our present challenges and the possibilities inherent in our foreseeable future. To this end the overall project is in two parts.
This first part tries first to show how the study of historical writing has impacted on the story of the last two hundred years.
<SUBHEADER> Part One Dreams and Nightmares </SUBHEADER> [A] will look at the role of history in the emboldened years centred around 1870.
<SUBHEADER> Part Two- The Making of A Lost Generation- </SUBHEADER> [B] will look at the period 1870-1914, and inherent faults and fault-lines that were built into this age of major change.
<SUBHEADER> Part Three- The Age of Catastrophe-</SUBHEADER> [C] will look at the years 1914-1945 which saw a dramatic undermining of faith in the virtues and advantages of Civilization, with its belief in the creation of societies shaped by human thought and not by savage Nature.
<SUBHEADER> Part Four- The Golden Age - </SUBHEADER> [D] will look at the years 1940-1990 and the implications of the War Aims concept that was designed to weld the society together by deliberately creating a future vision of material security and satisfaction.
<SUBHEADER> Part Five- The Need For A New Civilization-</SUBHEADER> [E] will consider the rather different experiences of post-war France and Britain. In one there was a feeling that Civilization had to be rebuilt from first principles, while in the other it was possible to “Make do and mend”.
<SUBHEADER> Part Six- Post-War Aspirations and Reality-</SUBHEADER> [F] will look at the way that the legacy of the “great age of history” led to a cult of managing the Future, so that once “The Liberal Experiment” could be renewed in the 1990’s concepts of “moral restraint” had withered.

The jon Bluesman etc
Because on the UniH2G2 submissions page it says to do it this way .. And I must say that I think that things appear clearer and easier to follow when set out in Guide ML, as this is in my Space as a Guide Entry.

You can see what I mean if you use this link

Cass
the guideml is great, it works, fine, and the entries look better that why?
I was just wondering why lumps of guideML were appearing in a conversation under the Factulty page. it is just a bit distracting as it is the same as the stuff in your entry, so my don't you just post the guideml into your entry.
We do not need an entire copy of your entry in the discussion forums, a link will do us equally as well, if not better as it doesn't junk up the page

jon- bluesman
My defence is that I was "only following orders".. It had been suggested to me after my first draft attempt at this and its posting, amongst other things, that I should try to place it as a Uni Project, and using the links I found in the system and the one that Lil gave me it kept coming up in the Conversation Forum.
Obviously doing it this way with a Link to My Space is an alternative way. But there appears to be no way to delete or edit the ones that are on the Forum. I have tried.

Cass
btw, you only need to post the A number in forums, not the whole URL, it is quicker that way
