Welcome, welcome, welcome, to the wonderful site of H2G2 (otherwise known as hootoo - you will see this word a lot). This is not an automated message, I am an ACE, and I'm here to help you settle into your new home 
H2G2 is a living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. Take a look in here: info?cmd=art It's something YOU can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review. Take a look at the writing-guidelines for more information on that. 
I've created a little list of links, just for you, so click here A4992357 and have a look at them (actually the links are my daughter's...but hey!! Hootoo is one big family  )
If you click on each link, they will take you to parts of hootoo no sane person should ever go alone on this site.....
......but as it seems no one here is sane, it doesn't matter does it!
Have a look around, pop into my personal space and read some conversations that I have on the go at the moment and you will see how things work. Don't be frightened to jump in on conversations, hootooers don't bite (well, some of them do, but I'll steer you well clear of those), just be aware of the thread you are reading and whether or not it is a private conversation between two people. However, if you wish to chat with one of them, click on the name tag and leave a message in their Personal Space.

Remember, if you get lost, shout for help and hopefully I'll be around to give you a helping hand. In case I'm not around, just leave a message here ACE and someone will be with you just as soon as they can. Thanks, got a entry for your section on biology but there are a few problems.
Can i write it in word and transfer it or does it have to be written on your page?

If you have found an error in a Edited Guide Entry, then you can leave your observations here:
A388334 Name the article and the A page.
Have a look at some of the other threads, they will show you how best to do it.
If you think there are more than a few errors, then you might be interested in writing an Update..
For this you will need to start a Guide Entry of your own, acknowledge the original author and, place it into PeerReview as an Updated Entry. There, others will help you polish your work for the Guide.

apolagies for sounding thick but what i meant was
i would like to write an entry for your biology section.
I would prefer to write it off line.
Can i use another program such as word or does it have to be online in your program?
I cant see a way of writing a section, saving it, then coming back to finish it off.
You can write offline and then tranfer over to your Guide Entries page. Just beware of the curly hyphens. They have to be changed once your tranfer over to Guide ML.
You can write directly into your Guide Entry page, just using the Edit facility and updating as you go along. Nothing is permanent in there until it has been Edited and placed on the Front Page. So you have no need to worry about hitting the wrong buttons. This is the only area in Hootoo where you can alter things after pressing the 'post' button..

rightiho, ive done the first part of my guide entry.
Ive submitted it for "review", loverly stuff, now what???
Should i contact you in a week or two?
Perhaps youve got more than enough guide entries and dont want any more?

You haven't yet submitted it into Peer Review.
I've checked the Guide and can't find another Edited Entry on Pond Life, so you are safe with that
Once you have submitted it into Peer Review, you will haved others coming to check it through, assist in shaping it into the House Style and, helping you with grammar and spelling.
Have a bit of patience with those helping you, they are not there to take over your article. If you don't think something is suitable, just explain why. Eventually, you will see your article change into a very professional piece of work!

mm. i wrote the entry, clicked on the button saying submit to peer review, what more than that do i need to do?
Click on 'submit for review'...
Click on 'Peer Review'.. and click again to confirm.
This will bring you to a reply box, where you write a short piece regarding your article, or explaining this is your first entry and you look forward to others assisting you.. (that sort of thing).
When you have posted that message, you will automatically be given a PR thread number, which will show your explanation, the A number of your article and your User number

One of my subjects many years ago.
There are quite a few others too which really need exposure.
There is one however which has been very close to me for years and that i need to talk with you about because it involves a good deal of controversy.
If you are up for that ill contact you in a while for advice as it will need a good deal of careful planning -

I would like to remove my journal entries, every time i try it says i cannot remove someone elses entries. I am logged in, everything else works ???

OH! I'm so sorry. I didn't see this when you first posted
Journals are not fully deleted. They will remain in your journal listing, and whenever you write another journal the listing is available for all to see.
To remove, you should see a message directly below your journal asking if you would like to delete it. Just click on that.
