Hello,
The joke I heard about Canadian naming is that a Canadian was asked to come up with the name by pulling letters out of a hat. As he did it, he said "C eh? N eh? D eh?" and the name thus became Canada. Okay, I suppose it's not too funny...

It appears from the Entry that Canadian place names are not, as I was told, named either after the first white man to arrive, or the last native to leave ...
