Maybe the italics see things we don't !! They don't just randomly do things to annoy people... I have great respect for the italics considering the only time i really talked to one he gave me a tshirt.
Well it sounds more like the italics just have it wrong, to me. If what Lady Scott said is true, it doesn't sound like a problem which requires No no no!!'s closure.
The way I see it is if those of us who post on 3N want to keep it, whether it's slow or has glitches, or not is irrelevant if we're happy to live with it. It's our thread cos we post here; we make it!
Well, that's my opinion as well. Nobody forces people to come here - how is it doing any harm?
*shrugs and wears his hootoo tshirt*
Hey! I'm wearing mine too!
The moment i won the caption contest was the happiest of my hootoo life
Lady S., it might depend on how the BBC caches its Stateside presence...
I find that short threads typically take 4 or 5 seconds to load (broadband, plain skin) while N³ typically takes well over a minute.
Jim was responding to a bug report I'd filed with a strange error message that seemed to come up most often (lately, *only*) while waiting for N³ to load; I speculated it was taking long enough to trigger a timeout somewhere down the line.
EC, I won *both* of mine in caption contests!
One's so old, it's black, with "H2G2.COM" on it.
"...while N³ typically takes well over a minute."
Reading back, I feel I need to clarify it a little. The *first time* I visit N³ after a break of half an hour or so, it takes well over a minute to appear. Once I'm on N³, though, it gets much faster. I assume there's some sort of thread cacheing going on in the background, as the BBC hamsters stuff their cheeks with posts.
I'm on dial up and use Brunel. It rarely takes more than 20 secs, sometimes faster!
The shirt i have is black with h2g2.com on the sleeve and the hootoo symbol on the chest. Is there another one?
and
to keep us going while picketing
Oy.
Is it a seige?
*gathers s*
Still: oy.
Found these here beta s from a strange developmental phase I had a while back. They're a tad unstable, but they're very entertaining.
"Beta" sporks?!
Ooooh as in surprise
Oh. You mean AHHHHHH!
