Hi Seth, thought I'd pop by here to continue talking about Sowerby Bridge and environs - not that there's all that much to say! The Ram's Head is my local (in fact I worked there a few Saturdays years ago). Rushbearing is lots of fun - followed the cart on the Sunday last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Have you seen my guide entry about Sowerby Bridge? A786233
I know Hebden Bridge fairly well - I have friends there and that's where our food co-op is based. The Picture House is a regular haunt of mine these days - still going strong. I'm thinking of doing an entry about Hebden Bridge but keep stalling as there seems to be a lot to say...
Is the Hobbit still going strong ? I thought it went out of business years ago.
I never realised it was actually in Sowerby Bridge - directions were along the lines of 'the other side of Barkisland and drive round and round the back of Norland until you find it'.
Since my first marriage ended I haven't got across there much - but the kids are still at Raistrick High.
(I'm trying to calculate the odds of you knowing my ex )
The Hobbit isn't strictly in Sowerby Bridge, but it's only 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive away, very easy to get to from here. We often have a drink there when we go for a walk on Norland moor - lovely few from the tables outside. There have been a few changes of management in the past fifteen years but the theme nights/weekends seem to be popular.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't know your ex... I don't know all that many people in the Sowerby Bridge area and a lot of the people I know in Hebden Bridge are relatively new to the town.
