I would like the Yikes button to be used more rather than less - it's a quick and easy way of alterting the moderators to a potentially tricky thread. If they think it's a CE issue they can alert the CEs.

That's not to say you can't leave a message or send an email to the CEs as well, of course. However, if a newbie came along and wanted to alert someone they are more likely to use something that's marked as a complaint button.

In addition to rather instead of, perhaps.

Mu Beta, I didn't think that you thought it was badly handled, I was thinking of where things have been less well handled, or things have got confused because reseachers have been unclear in which capacity volunteers are posting in sadface

On the whole we are in agreement I think, it is just this one thing.

I'm am not saying that it is something that should never happen
I am just saying for now it is particulary important for me (and I think others) to know in what capacity volunteers are posting.

The clearest and easist way to do this is to post from seperate accounts

Once we have gone through a period of adjustment and we know who is who and what is what,we have got used to being modded by our peers and when everyone has had a chance to define, establish and grow into their roles, I might feel differently.

sorry, I don't think I've checked on the 1 occasion I yikes something. Is the post hidden immediately?

I like the idea of different areas on the site coming under the responsibility of different volunteers. I wonder if we have enough volunteers to do that right now, though.

I have seen quite a number of my posts vanish very quickly, but as I haven't hit the button in maybe 4 or so years, I don't know how long it takes the system to react.

This is where the tools provide some fun (for a given definition of fun). We're still not 100% sure of what happens because there was no documentation provided and sometimes in different scenarios different things happen.

As a rule of thumb the post isn't hidden when the Yikes button is pressed. However, we think that it might be the case that specific reasons on the list *do* hide it straight away (yes, that's another job on our To Do list to figure out. winkeye ). It might also be the case where multiple people yikes the same post it might get hidden faster (again, something to test).

Hopefully when the system is rebuilt in the medium-term we will have a system that we understand, rather than one that is still a bit trial-and-error.

If certain things are hidden straight away then you've got a great game for idiots. erm

We don't know that for sure at the moment, all we know is that occasionally the thing surprises us. smiley

Well, something almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.
