i am lazy, very very lazy, if i can't use a messageboard or whatever within 10 minutes i'm gone. I don't like the colors, i can't understand where anything is, the BBC was a simple as pie to use, this is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
I'm very sorry your experience of this is not an easy one. We got the site from the BBC with an unusable skin (barlesque) and lots of bugs.
In order to have a working site, the tech team have concentrated on the bugs first but will try to implement barlesque soon.
Anyway, we are not a message board. We are a writing site with a healthy and chatty community. If you'd like to take part in the community side, why don't you have a look at Askh2g2 where a lot of interesting conversations are taking place?
The BBC uses technology from this site...
This is not your 10-minute site. Its tendrils will gradually pervade your very consciousness and hook you like a helpless wriggling minnow.
And your point is, Mina?
I didn't say the BBC invented the technology - or did I? But we bought it (sort of back) from them, warts and all.
I think Mina's point is roughly what made me go "huh???"
The original post seems to be "This system's rubbish, the BBC's system was better"... Where in reality they're one and the same thing.
My guess is that we're dealing with a relative newbie who's either a refugee from a closed BBC messageboard or someone who never saw any other skin than the abomination they introduced just before we left.

It may have had its technical flaws, but Barlesque was easier to navigate.
One option is to change the look of the page, thallon, by clicking on 'Settings'. Alabaster and Classic Goo look very different to Brunel and you might find them easier to use.
If you expect a messageboard BBC style I don't think changing skins will help a lot.

Perhaps not, but I know I personally find Brunel difficult to navigate so a change of skin might help. Worth a shot, anyway.
Well, I'll retreat form this conversation, there is nothing else I can add to this now.
The OP said BBC was simple as pie to use. My point was it's the same technology. Then follow on as Whiskey said. What's your problem??

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbhistory/NF2233809 doesn't work the same as h2g2, neither does http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbfood/NF2670471. He did say BBC, not h2g2 specifically; he may have come over from a different message boards and been confused they didn't look the same.
I've been here 7 years, and I'm still confused!
