Often, those around hootoo talk about the powers that be (tptb) in reference to the paid staff at the BBC. I had never before noticed but this phrase started in Romans 13 verse 1 of the King James Bible. Here is a link to a BBC page listing some other changes to the language

A perfect illustration of George Orwell's point, when he said that certain books were so influential to the English language (the works of Shakespeare, the KJV Bible...) that people now quote from them every day, who haven't even read them, and don't realise they are doing it.
