the last two are more connected to the coming decade than the last one.
Jennifer Granholm reaches term limits after 2010 and will be replaced.
If this is a cover about the Aughts the Former president (Bush) should have been shown also.

first major event caused by small cause:
Airports all across Europe had to shut down because of ash from a small volcano in Iceland.
air traffic on Africa, North and South America was not affected (except those flights going to the UK or Europe)

Then there was the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Months went by trying to find a technology that would work 5000 feet down to solve the problem before we heard this
"When the history books come to be written about America's worst environmental disaster, Sunday 18 July may be seen as the day the cry went up that the oil had permanently stopped spewing into the Gulf of Mexico." It may be years before we ever find out the damage done to oceanic ecology or oceanic currents during those months.

Meanwhile,on the BBC (January 2011) h2g2 having passed its MOT got a redesign
http://www.aerian.com/index.php.
and users were still getting settled in when they threw a bombshell
On the BBC Internet Blog, executive Ian Hunter has written two blog posts. The first, published this morning, is about the effect of the cuts on the BBC's social media, including the planned disposal of H2G2, the long-running online community and closure of the iPlayer messageboard. Nick Reynolds explained that 'disposal' only meant that it would have to leave the BBC as in the new structure there it did not fit anywhere.

Events of the Decade will surely include the Japanese Earthquake
which broke the Nuclear Reactor's cooling system and nearly caused a complete meltdown.

and a later article questions why the Nuclear threat was given more media coveraqe than the Tsunami.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentis...fears-nuclear-angle-japan-suffering
perhaps because the tsunami is history but the Nuclear Reactor may prompt changes in policy for years to come.

Meanwhile that little man from Florida who threatened to burn the Koran in NYC finally decided to do so in his own sanctuary.
So we have the equation
Terry Jones +Hamid Karzai = blood and Mayhem .
As Christopher Hitchens said:
The same old dreary formula: self-righteous frenzy married to a neurotic need to take offense; the easy resort to indiscriminate violence and cruelty; the promulgation of makeshift fatwas by mullahs on the make; those writhing mustaches framing crude slogans of piety and hatred, and yelling for death as if on first-name terms with the Almighty. The spilling of blood and the spoliation of property-all for nothing, and ostensibly "provoked" by the corny, brainless antics of a devout American nonentity, notice of whose mere existence is beneath the dignity of any thinking person.
I'm sure the Taliban is making Bloody hay while the Koran burns in Orlando.
They would like nothing better than to throw the Americans out and once more make Afganistan a Taliban governed nation.

Meanwhile in the suburbs of Islamabad,Pakistan American forces watch a private compound. and the American president makes the decision.
If bin laden is living there-take him out. Navy Seals in helicopers descend and soon it is done. Ever since 911 Osama Bin Laden has been this elusive figure that we could never find. Calling down the wrath of allah on western powers. But behind his rhetoric of righteousness, divine justice and retribution, there was nothing but darkness.
• Osama bin Laden, terrorist leader, born 10 March 1957; died 2 May 2011 from gunshot wounds.

On 18 July I received notification by e-mail that the hootoo e-mail list would be passed on to the new owners
It said in part
"However, if you do not want the BBC to pass on your email address please click this link. If we do not hear from you within 20 working days of the date we sent this email, we will assume that you would like to be contacted by the new owner."
that was 22 working days ago. So I guess the e-mail from Noesis should be here any day now.

Well, just because the BBC now knows who wants to go, doesn't necessarily mean that there is anywhere for us to arrive at yet.

I'm sure the techs are working hard to make it so, I don't think there's been a date set for the transfer yet. Not one I've come across anyhoo.
