Apparently her funeral started 15 minutes behind schedule, because she wanted to be 'late for her own funeral'.
Now that's style!

They've planted her already?

Yes, according to the other place http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Taylor though I don't recall it ever being an issue.

Converted to Judaism. You live and learn, or at least I do

Not the original Eddie, but Eddie Stobart all the same. A legend in his own lifetime.

Another demise of a British personality which the BBC seems to have completely ignored.

He lived near here but even the local press seem to have failed to cover the event. I 'met' him once when he was running his much-missed aircraft museum at Barton Pines near Paignton in the early eighties. My grandfather was aquainted with him (probably from some local charity links) and introduced me to him; I'm ashamed to say that, although I was very polite, I hadn't the faintest idea who he was.
Sidney Lumet http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13025258
I must admit that even though he made many films that are recognised as classics such as 12 Angry Men, Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon, I find a lot of his films uncomfortable and difficult to watch because of their content and style. Except for The Hill.
Its subject matter is just as uncomfortable as so many others - an individual, often a very imperfect individual, going up against a system - and parts of The Hill are very difficult to watch, but the film intrigues me. I don't know why.

Dog Day Afternoon and Network are two films I really like. A news radio station (WINS? if I recall correctly) reported the death of Stanley Loomit.

I somehow omitted that the radio station is in New York.

It must be quite something to know that you single-handedly revived an old beer style that quite possibly would have died out without your intervention
If he hadn't come to Austin when he did and set up his brewery here I don't think we'd be the beer town that we've become

You thought I was going say 'Mr Lucas' perhaps? No, this is how I prefer to remember him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FXMGNBFJ_E
And yes, that is Bet Lynch peering seductively around the door
So, by my reckoning that just leaves Eric Me Flower alive out of the cast. Bloody Delilah - brown bread Cheese and Egg - brown bread Winston - brown bread Smellie Ibbotson - brown bread

With this video you are really spoiling us...

She screamed a lot, I think.
John Sullivan http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13176198
I was hoping for more episodes of Rock and Chips after the one coming up this week
Danny Baker tweeted "Rotten, awful news about John Sullivan. It's entirely likely that his craft passes with him." I think Danny's being a bit hard on Roy Clarke there.
