First of all I like to say hello to you,and welcome to my conversation.I think you'll enjoy my life experiences under some funny, tense and controversial situations through five decades.I'm 51 now and I need to tell my story. It hasn't been easy living beside the United States, don't get me wrong' I have many friends that are yanks. The day of 911, Canada opened it's doors and borders landing many many planes on the east coast. Over 100 Canadians died that day working in the towers. And now the huricanes, I'm going down to Florida after Christmas to lend a hand.

Well, one of the first things I remember was the Cuban Missile Crisis,at school all the teachers were really scared, you could tell! We use to sing this song, something like, crawl under your desk hold your head way way down, don't look up if the bomb hits the ground... don't remember anymore. Just think, I was 10 years old.We had friends building shelters and my father,(Liverpool born) told me why, sooner or later everybody will run out of food, water then what? And if you think I'm putting you on the barbi!!!Thankfully everything worked out.During the crisis, President Kennedy was on tv alot. I came home from playing, ready to watch some tv,OH NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! the president is on, he's on every channel I'm missing Flipper!!!!
When J.F.K was killed in 1963, we watched it.Being a kid, I thought we would have a missile crisis again, this time somebody would drop the bomb.Judging by my fathers reaction,Mr. Kennedy was a good guy, my dad was right. After a few weeks things were back to normal, fighting with my sister and getting grounded!
Thank-you for listenning(reading. Douglas William Epworth
