Nectarines as aphrodisiacs? Well, well! Maybe this works in cold climes such as the UK. In sunny South Africa, nectarines are called "naartjies" (pr. naar-cheese) and are purchased in large quantities at Rugby matches, mostly for the purpose of being thrown at supporters of the opposing team. Watermelon rind, fresh from the cooler-box on the other hand, is perfect for smearing over your intended's skin to cool down on hot days. It is also socially accepted for this ritual to be indulged in public at picnics, etc. as a prelude to a plunge into the swimming pool where cuddling and the like is practiced.
