Lil's Atelier
Social Life Begins and Ends With Etiquette
Here is where the bestest quotes from the Salon shall be recorded for posterity.
"<<today, he's not at work as he's, erm, magistrating.>>
You can get a cream for that nowadays. "
Then here is my first nomination.
Who said that?
Mr. D.

Is anyone going to go back through past conversations to look for gems? If each one of us took one conversation it could be managed. Or are we just going to put up new ones as they occur?
Like scribing, volunteerism is encouraged. I suppose salonistas should let everyone know which conversations they intend to delve.

It would probably be more practical to work either forward from the very beginning or backward. Rather than willy nilly.

I will begin with 'planetchris' through Cth Conversation, since the early conversations are much shorter than the present ones.

I would love to post my post about guidelines for the quotefile again, but it would look very badly formatted without proper line breaks. .
I'll take the next LED, Dth through 1Eth conversations. I'm beginning to think that this thread will have to evolve into a whole page of its own, just as the cookbook did.
To create something out of leather requires giving it your awl.

29/11/05 (Conversation 81X)
From Lentilla, in the BackRoom Chat on American Politics...
<< So any chatter that Bush gives you about this being the strategy for three years is total Bushit. >>
SC
Another one from Lentilla in 81Xth Conversation at Lil's posted 6 December 2005
In reply to Ag considering preventing S from wearing the shirts she had just ironed, because he'd crease them:
"Just put a whole bunch of extra starch in them so he can't bend. They'll stay nice and smooth."
Agapanthus and her brilliant description of Christmas shopping from conversation 81X, posted 17th December 2005:
"That awful moment when you look up from the gadget you were deciding wouldn't do and realise you have been gridlocked by fellow shoppers and no one can move out of your way until someone else moves out of their way and you are all motionless and growling like F1 cars until someone either leaves the shop or vaults the display cabinets."

I'll have to do some research to pinpoint the exact conversation - but one of Ben's many quotables is.....
"How can you expect sense from a woman with chocolate in her hand?"

Some of the human mouths I spend my day looking in are so disgusting I'd rather snog a dog.

81Xth conversation posts 1576 and 1578
Marv - Lil, you have the soul of an evil person <grin>.
Lentilla - Yes, she keeps it in a little box by her bed. Every once in a while she'll shake it just to hear the evil cackle.
83Xth conversation, posting no. 488, where Hyp describes Sexy Angel's son:
"...and is so aromatic that there is almost a visible aura of olfactory oppulence surrounding him."
Olfactory Oppulence - I had to read it out loud when I saw it!
Agreed. But everyone remember that it's spelled opulence. </schoolmarm>
