I've always thought that the quality of fortunes has gone downhill. It's been a long time since I found a fortune that actually foretold the future (or tried). Most are simply sticky platitudes.
I think I'll start a brand of fortune cookies with real fortunes, like: "You will die someday" or "You have just eaten Chinese food" or my favorite "Duck!"

"Don't light fireworks in your basement. You WILL get caught."
here are some odd ones i or someone i was eating with have/has actually gotten:
"You like Chinese food."
"You will own at least one of the high rises in Manhatten."
"You will be invited to a royal dance party and meet your first lover."
I live for the day I get a fortune that says:
"HELP! I'm being held hostage in a fortune cookie factory"
the best fortune cookie fortune i've ever seen was an old MS-DOS reference.
