What's this place coming to?

I mean, this is where I used to go to relax in a friendly environment. Now it's just hassle. The odd interesting bit still pop up on ask or in PR, but this whole L**m business really drained a lot of patience, took a lot of fun out of it, and now the digi-wars really just make me want to sign off.
Guess h2g2 has lost its innocence... blue

I know what you mean. There seems to be a lot of angst around these days. I say 'these days' like I've been here longer than my two years, but I think I'm right in saying the place has changed. Hey ho. Evolution, I suppose. Just a shame. I miss my old h2g2. <pipe-and-slippers-smiley>

Hi Vip, thanks for stopping by smiley

Yes, it has changed a lot, hasn't it? But come to think of it, there's always been the occasional flamewar now and then. What bit me was that these last conflicts was a display of the exact opposite of the virtues I've always cherished in h2g2, the friendly, tolerant, openminded and quite silly place.
But, I hasten to add, I was in a very bad mood when I wrote that and am not generally that down about it. There are still many very worthwhile things to stumble upon around here, even if it isn't like in the good old days...
You got the pipe and slippers? I'll fetch the brown cardigan and a bottle of sherry and we're set... winkeye

cheers

Shame there's no fire-burning-in-the-grate smiley too. smiley

It all seems to have died down (though that could just be that the portion that got blocked out haven't found their way back yet, of course...). Thank heavens for that.

Yes, seems like it. There's still a lot of bitterness and grudges held, I fear, but hopefully it will pass. Am concerned what will happen if/when people start coming back in, though. May turn out a bit unpleasant. But we shall see, no need to worry about that for now...

cheers
