Yes, that could be a problem.

Getting a bit stir crazy then, MR. How much longer is the cast on for?
I go back to the doc's on the 13th of February, and am hoping it's off for good then. Of course, it would help if the thing would stay together. I took my daughter shopping, and in the middle of the store, one stave just popped in half. Not exactly fun.
But liquid nails does wonders, and I should be good as new boot-wise tomorrow. My foot is actually feeling much better, and I start physical therapy for it this week, so that should help.

See a debate recently held in the commens recently out of 629 mps only less that 30 attended,it .I wonder how many of them where there just to "claim expenses" as no sardonic smile smiley
Teuchter Should i find any "teacher or school policy" advocated or condoned such a practise as to use such shock tatics i would look upon it as "metal cruelty" as despair dejection and failure brought about by a person/s who are "well aware of importence and effects on vunerable groups"
lil see entry in journal 1134,comeing soon
montana "one of those days enjoy it ,as for excersiseing try just flexing those mucsles in turn toes ankle calfs ect just as "rewarding" i tend to often at lot of the time with 4kilo cat on lap back to lurking else where

One area of sports physiology which is not much publicised is that *imagining* yourself using a limb in a cast normally increases the speed and quality of the healing process. Visualise yourself with a healthy foot for several minutes several times a day.
A nice cup of tea, IEEM, please.
I know y'all remember the bathroom problems, with water cascading down on my neighbour below me. Well the toilet got so badly blocked that a joint burst on the spoil pipe, and he has had shitty water cascading down on him for several days. He has had damage to ceilings, walls, carpets, floors, pictures and now his electric has gone, and the contents of his freezer has defrosted and he is moving into a hotel.
In theory this should all be covered by insurance, but although we have buildings insurance, I did not renew my contents insurance, and his insurers would claim of my insurers, and... I so don't want to think about this.
The problem I have is that I am reasonably sure that the whole event was caused by a combination of the Stepson's actions an my ignorance.
My ignorance first: I occasionally use kitchen roll in the bathroom, partly to deal with stray acts of kitty-poo (the litter tray is in there) and partly as a back-up supply of toilet paper. What I had not realised is that kitchen roll is now designed not to break up in water, and instead it forms great solid lumps and - guess what - in large enough quantities it blocks toilet outflow pipes. I did not know this, so I had not communicated it to the Stepson, and was - as I said - willing to use it as toilet paper if we ran out.
The Stepson's actions now: We were just about to run out of toilet paper yesterday evening, and at about 5.00pm I found a 3/4 used toilet roll in my bedroom and put it in the bathroom. It had about half an inch depth of toilet paper still wound round on it - which not a lot, but which I assumed would be enough for the two of us until we went out an hour and a half later. From what I can make out the Stepson used it all before we left for the evening. If he was using kitchen roll in the same quantities, it is no wonder the spoil pipe blocked.
Now here is the thing that is upsetting me.
As you know, it was the Stepson's inability to have a bath without flooding the place which meant that I had to replace the bathroom last month. I was cool with that because I had planned to do it this year anyway, I just did it sooner than intended. My dread was that the situation would escalate to the point where ceilings were ripped down, carpets ripped up, and bills for thousands created downstairs...
If it was my fault (in using kitchen roll for the kitty-poos), then I can deal with the situation and the possibly severe financial consequences. But if it was his fault - in using really extreme amounts of paper when he uses the loo - then I have difficulty in not blaming him for the situation.
Ultimately it is my responsibility - I gave the greenlight for using kitchen roll, and I failed to renew the insurance policy. But on the other hand I have been using kitchen roll when I have run out of toilet paper intermittantly for years, including the last year before he arrived, and had no problems of this kind.
I just want to cry right now.
Ben

ltp - I totally agree re the shock tactics scenario and one has to question why they do it. Perhaps thse people are running scared because of the pressure put on them to give a good showing in the league tables. I think teachers have one of the hardest jobs. There's been so much tinkering around with the education system in recent years that it's not surprising some of them are totally demoralised and resorting to this method of 'encouragement'.
Caerwynn - Wisley is also my second home though I don't get across there as much as I'd like these days due to pressure of work. It's great how the gardens change with the months and seasons. We were there a couple of weeks ago and there were camellias in bloom on Battleston Hill .
ben think you will find "toilets" are fixtures and covered by "buildings" being fixed part off and necissary.Dont let them tell you otherwise.I doubt it was "kitchen roll" alone and to collect and harden would take quite some time.

Well, we shall see what comes of the insurance people fighting it out amongst themselves. I just feel that I could do with someone riding shotgun for me, for a change, instead of me covering everyone else's back all the bloody time.
If he used the kitchen roll in the quantities he used the toilet roll in, then the main bloody sewer would have burst.

>>...I think teachers have one of the hardest jobs...
On behalf of teachers everywhere, thank you.
for Ben.
I remember my mom getting postively livid if we used anything except toilet paper. I learned that rule very young.
I also remember when each of my girls was toilet training that they wanted to use boat loads of paper. I nipped that right in the bud. Of course, the toilet still overflowed the time that daughter #1 tried to flush one of her toys away. It was lodged so deep I had to have a plumber remove the toilet to get it out.
IIEM, may I have-
*A cup of Kona appears.*
Thanks

oh Ben I hope it all works out, I don't know if the damage might be covered as it was part of the *structural* equipment that did the damage? maybe pop in to the CAB? they could look over the small print with you?
We have spent a good bit of the morning with the floorboards up, and Munchkin under them. It turns out a there is extra lead piping, and it has split and is spraying the foundations that will be expensive too
Caer, I like Wisley but as they charged to get in, we used to go along to the Arbouretum [sp?] near Bramley.
*Ponders plumbling while sipping coffee.*
Ben, I really don't see how a paper product of any sort can expand sufficiently to burst a pipe. Clog up, yes, in which case the water would back up and overflow into ~your~ bathroom. Is the plumbling ancient enough and of a material that would fail due to age?
And you don't use clumping kitty litter, do you? It's a big no-no to put that down the pipes.
Green tea and lemon, please, IIEM!
I'm not normally a tea drinker, but enjoyed drinking this a few days ago at the Chinese new year.
for Ben. Do you know for certain that it was a blockage that burst the pipe? What did the plumbers find? And aren't you glad you live on an upper floor? I can't imagine much worse than sewage raining down in my living space.

* at the thought of all that poo*
Since No2 son moved out it's amazing how much longer a roll of bog paper lasts now!
Toc, some years ago H bought me a year's annual membership as a birthday pressie and as I can get someone else in for free, it is a nice place to go for or lunch and I reckon that on my own I would get the value out of it.
So if you fancy meeting there, Teuchter, Toc, or anyone else who might find themselves in the area, let me know
*comes up from the basement* Does anybody else know about this tunnel between the atelier and the café? Or have you been taking the forest trail to get here? It's a just a short tunnel, actually, because there's a SWIFT (sideways lift) that will take you direct to the salon. It uses the same entrance as the service lift somehow.
Good morning everyone, and big s for Ben. As GL says, who would want to be living downstairs in such conditions!!
IIEM, let me have the Lil Special.
More gale force winds last night. Workers have stacked a bunch of 10 foot tall fence slats against my front wall, preparatory to putting in the rest of my fence, and guess what started hitting the tiled porch floor, one by one, this morning about 5? The cats were jumping out of their skins.

*Washes up* *Puts v/_\3 on* Hello everyone. I've not been around here for a while and I've not bothered with the backlog.
<BB<
And, wow, there must be a lot of washing up to do by now. Just in time!
Oh dear, Ben, what a difficult situation. Hope it does get resloved in your favour. Sure it will, but it is stressful while you wait
