at last i have learned the results of the biopsies that were performed last week, and the news is very good.
1. bone biopsy revealed no osteomyelitis, therefore won't need 10-week iv antibiotic course
2. tissue biopsy also negative -- no malignancy found. there is some possibility of something going on -- but it was my decision not to pursue the matter, and the doctors think i'm probably right to make that decision, given my primary condition. that is, we can play tumor whack-a-mole all we want, but at the end of the day i still have a syrinx.
meanwhile, the wound continues to heal so well that even the skin graft op may be unnecessary. i'll be seeing dr d next week to discuss that.
this means remaining where i am for maybe 4 more weeks for the wound to heal enough for me to be able to sit up and recover basic living skills. i am currently receiving both physical and occupational therapy, daily. but still i have to remain on my side till the wound finishes shrinking and closing. 4 to 6 weeks.
so i am also developing such esoteric skills as eating spaghetti while lying down.

I am relieved to hear this good news lil - I hope you can get back to your own home as quickly as possible, but in the meantime I hope they pamper you as much as they can.

I am so relieved, Lil. Excellent news. And you never know when eating spaghetti while lying on your side like Roman gentry will come in useful.
Great news, although there's still a long stretch before you.
