I was reading something recently from the point of view of one of the keepers. He was apparently quite bitter about the whole event until the day he died, and really resented the trespassers being praised. I'll see if I can dig it out again for you.
Personally I think subsequent history has shown how much good the trespass did for all of us, but it's interesting to hear his version, too.

Hello Elentari, I enjoyed this article! I wish there was such a thing here in South Africa. There are several magnificent mountain ranges within view of my house, but I can't go climb them because they belong to farmers or mines or are tribal lands. I just want to climb them, I don't want to cause any harm or trouble.
