I was in an amateur production of Macbeth recently, so I thought I knew all there is to know about the Scottish King. But, of course, you proved me wrong.
I bear the name which is the direct descent from Mac Beath Mac Fionnlaigh, as it would be spelt in modern, Western, Gaelic; the Eastern form having been annihilated many years ago. It somehow means a lot to me (although I am not a Scottish Nationalist)that one of the best leaders my country has ever had has been vilified through the medium of what amounts to a soap-opera. Instead of making "epic films" about the life of William Wallace, I really wish somebody with some guts and intelligence would try to tell the history of this most mis-understood, and I believe wronged, figure of history; not just to satisfy my personal connections, but to create an interesting counter-thesis to the obvious lies told about him by the Great Bard.
