I guess this would be where the toasts should be, but I don't know protocol (and 2legs probably ate all the toast anyway) so I'll just start blathering.
I'd really like to recognise Sam as the outgoing Ed as we leave the BBC and move on. I don't know Sam personally at all, just from seeing how he works on site, and from the occasional email (usually over moderation). I've found him always good to deal with, helpful and friendly. I also have lots of respect for him having survived Barlesque and the upheavals of this year.
So  matey. Thanks for getting us this far and sticking with us, best wishes for what you do next, and I really hope we see you over the hill (or wherever it is that we're going).
Here's to Sam!
