I think you're being a bit hard on your own pictures, Mal, but at the same time I've been thinking exactly the same thing. It's incredibly time-consuming to produce illustrations, especially since the larger picture size became standard in the guide.
Photography's probably the way to go. It doesn't take anywhere near as much time to produce a very good photograph for an entry. It's a shame, because the amusing and colourful little pictures were an important part of the charm of the site, but maybe that day's gone.
Still, at least we kept it going when there were only two artists - look how it is now!

Yeah, it'd be a shame to only have photographs, but I can't seem to find any entries these days where my, er, style would be appropriate.
