I don't see any ads and the top of the page shows me as logged in under my BBC ID.

I assume I can add a comment since I am logged in.

Sorry WM - With the BBC aiming to dispose of h2g2 I thought you may be interested to see a site they have set up recently. Have you posted to any BBC sites other than h2g2 ?
My interest is the BBC/h2g2 relationship or lack of it as things are going. smiley

The BBC have no relationship with h2g2 other than trying to get rid of it without letting the users down.

There are strong indirect connections, of course.

Douglas Adams wrote for BBC radio and TV (Hitchhikers, Dr Who, Last Chance to See, Dirk Gently, etc).

Most Edited Guide Entries link to the BBC website.

I've collected almost 400 published citations to h2g2, all of which mention the BBC.

This project became associated with the BBC over a ten-year period, and there are lots of fans within the organisation (sadly, not in the right places right now)

I don't think it will be possible to remove the BBC from the fabric of this site for at least another ten years, and for that reason, we shouldn't try to. I'd like us to retain an informal affiliation with them as far as we can.

There are hundreds of links in Edited Entries to old BBC news articles dating from around 1999 or 2000. They are so out-of-date that they really detract from the Guide, and I'd like to see them removed. Once the new site gets up and running I think it would be a good idea to do that, assuming I still have some sort of curator role.

Where they add no value, I agree. Replace if possible, otherwise remove.

There is and always will be a relationship ship between the BBC and h2g2 as long as the BBC uses the *U* Number to register its community members and dna the community website engine ok
