I took Crescent's recommendation and bought Ash... admittedly the historian in me is getting a bit perturbed by the free licence taken with history but none the less it is a cracking read. I have only got about 30 pages through and I am already at the point where I get annoyed when I arrive at my railway terminus! 
Just finished A-levels (just being the operative word), and so I can now start to read all those lovely books I bought but refused to read... I'm finishing "Under a Glass Jar" by Anais Nin at the moment.

The book I'm reading right now is called 'Gode, Helde en Konings' ('Gods, Heroes and Kings') and is a translation of pre-Christian Irish tales.
Pyramids by Terry Pratchett. Not his best but still good.
Black Sunday by Thomas Harris. Also not his best.
Maya by Jostien Gaarder (for the third time). Definately his best
Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake. Only just started it but loving it already.
And as I am  today I plan on catching up on my reading.

Having seen the film and read the book 'Chocolat' by Joanne Harris and thoroughly enjoyed both, I picked out her next book 'Blackberry Wine, which also has the same magical quality to it. A bit different reading a book when the narrator is a bottle of Fleurie!
I do hate those offers of 3 books for 2 as either I have already got them all or can't decide which ones to get! It is all too easy to spend way too much in book shops and then too much time reading them! A curse and a joy.
Finished "Under a Glass Bell". Now I'm half way through "Woman's Estate" by Juliet Mitchell, and dipping into "Island" by Aldous Huxley.
I'm currently reading The Kings Own by Fredrick Marryat, One of Woodhouse's books as well, not sure of the title though. (thats more of a leasure book)

Darwin's Radio by Greg Bear. I'd seen his books on the sci-fi shelf at the library, but the covers always looked to cliched (talk about judging a book by its cover) and I avoided them. It's very good and I'm ashamed of my callow nature.
Also, No Logo - Naomi Klien. An excellent bed/bath book that you can just drop and start without forgetting what's going on.
"Archangel" by Sharon Shinn... very GOOD! 
Still halfway through "The Two Towers" ... I'll finish the Tolkien if it kills me! 
Piece of Cake - Derek Robinson for the third time ... just love it!
Just one on the go at the moment ... it's so good that it'd be rude to be unfaithful!

"French Silk" by Sandra Brown.
 Actually not worth of reading but good for wasting time.
*SO* glad everyone else does three books on the go at once... my partner (I seem to mention him in every thread..hmm...) is so puritan, reads *ONE BOOK AT A TIME*. Can't deal with it..
ANYway...
Inversions - Iain M Banks
Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow (always *meant* to get round to it)
One by Gregory McGuire on Cinderella through the eyes of one of the ugly sisters...can't remember the title. ('Wicked' was great too, by him (not entirely sure I have his name right) which was Wizard of Oz through the eyes of Wicked Witch of the West.)
And, very slowly, Harry Potter in Spanish.
Oh, and a couple of books on writing by authors...
There *are* others too (I have an image of the crowded bedside table...)
I *do* finish books *sometimes*, honest...

still reading 'Ash - a secret history' and then I think I will follow Ekki's lead and head back to re-read 'Piece of Cake'
You can tell when I'm depressed - the number of books I read sky rockets... at the moment, I'm on "Persuasion".

Ooooh thanks, a new Iain Banks book, coooooo.
At the moment "The Lord Of The Rings" (again) in preparation for the film. Yes it will take me that long to read the first part! Even longer if I get waylaid by a new Iain Banks.

I'm currently struggling through the Bible (just for fun, you understand )...there's so much "don't do this, for I am a jealous God..." Weird! But good to know more about what people are talking about...
Just started TH White's "The Once and Future King" - all his books on King Arthur and Merlin rolled into one easy to hold (if only I had bigger hands  ) package.
And still trying to motivate myself to get past page 5 of Moby Dick 
I started reading the bible at one point Cafram ... got to the end of Numbers and then got distracted.
Everyone was constantly begatting! Or killing people ... most disturbing for a pure untarnished mind such as mine was!
I got halfway through the "for (insert sin here), you must burn the carcass of a male lamb, as well as the kidneys on the sacrificial alter, for this aroma is pleasing to the Lord", and skipped ahead to the new testament...I was surprised how often Jesus called people stupid, or said "don't you understand yet?!"

Re-reading Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson with a view of getting the sequels at some stage. I try only to read one book at a time. That way I get higher impact because I concentrate on it. It also means I usually finish books with in a couple of days of starting them.
The Lexical Approach by Lewis and The Lexical Syllabus by Willis and something about Discourse by McCarthy, Discourse and language Education by Hatch, and skimming through way too many other books on similar subjects. They are interesting, you understand, but the whole exercise is beginning to take on a hysterical quality...
