So, in this age of instantaneous communication anywhere on the globe, a bunch of old guys have us all watching a smokestack. Good times. We sure have come a long way.
I was watching it intently last night, on Fox News, and read on the scroll bar that there had been a massive earthquake in San Fransisco. The city was nearly destroyed by fire, and over 700 people were dead.
But still, there on the screen is this pesky smokestack. I was about to become outraged at the news channels' lack of priorities, when the scroll bar went on to say the quake happened this day in 1906.
Made me feel a little better. Then some smoke came out. Looked white until it turned black. ...cmon, people! Get some dye, for pete's sake! Watch some Vietnam War movies, they're always tossing out those green smoke bombs to mark a helicopter landing zone. Get some of those. You can't confuse white or black if you're looking for black or day-glo green!

The new Pope is Benedict XVI -- coincidence? -- *shrugs* 
Anyway, as long as it is NOT Peter the Roman...I have too many things to do...
I'm a bit concerned about Benedict being Pope... he's very right wing and was JP2's right hand man for many years  I suppose it's a good thing he's 78 
I think maybe he'll serve the purpose of a "transitional"...you know, like a transitional boyfriend/girlfriend after a major breakup...
