What is that Councillor all about calling the Canongate 'one of the darkest and dingeyest parts of the city? I know a bit of regeneration may be needed to help turn the old bus depot (under demolition now) into a possitive new development but I dont understand how the demolition of more buildings (Listed ones and homes currently in use and recently refurbished to improve heating and insulation) will help. The new council HQ which is nearing completion is a terrible design which cannot be made better by developing more of the same but bigger next door. Can we not learn from our mistakes.....look at the St James Centre..a 'fashionable architectural' design of its time which helps illistrate why we didn't continue with the rest of that fashion. Lets try and keep the Old Town the unique/special place it is by having respect for the people and buildings which exist there now.
