Sat in the cyber cafe at work. A woman with young child (maybe 2 or 3 years old) approached the crisp/cocolate machine. Mum put some money in. "Go on," she said, "press some buttons..."
Child duly presses buttons.
"Ooh look!" says mum, "You won something! Put your hand i here, see what you won..."
Child reaches in, takes out crisps, looks absolutely thrilled!
"Ooh, well done! You won!"
Not particularly exciting I know, but it was great the way the kid looked so thrilled at having "won" her crisps, turning a simple thing into a bit of fun!
(didn't think this was your journal btw)

1 That's the address of the web page that we can't find - it should begin with http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/
Sorry for raising your hopes, Prof. That "here" was just a fake address. Since there is no page www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/here, you just get that error message.

I loved the story Hoggy! Yesterday SS and I went to feed the ducks on a local canal. (We'd each taken a bag of food) There was a little girl of about three with her Grandparents, feeding them, so I said we won't feed them yet, it will spoil her enjoyment. When all of her food had gone she looked rather sad - then SS took his bag from his pocket and said "would you like some more". The pleasure in this child's face as she could carry on feeding the ducks was worth a fortune.
Aww, good for you! I think seeing smiles on childrens' faces is a brilliant tonic!
When VV dislocated her wrist as a toddler, I told her she was having her photo taken in the X Ray department... She gave such a beautiful smile!
Hoggy, I thought someone had posted on my Nerja Caves entry that I had won Entry of the Month for December.
