So. I'm not allowed to listen to my mp3 player at work, or use my PDA. Even though my boss uses his PDA and his boss's daughter is always listening to her walkman. I hate double standards. Oh and I've been asked to remove links from work sites to my website, maybe because they're coming across comments like this.
What they don't seem to realise is that they're shooting themselves in their feet. If I'm not happy at work, I'm not productive. If I'm not happy and productive, then I tend to think along the lines of, screw this job.
*hands Ian a large slice of *
Don't worry about work, your boss sounds crazed anyway. Write a satire about it
Oh, and on another note WAP wasn't duff technology, its still the basis of the mobile internet. WML wasn't quite right was the problem, but then WML was only a temporary stopgap until XHTML
Sorry, couldn't resist
Anyway, how are you?

Oh I'm quite happy using XHTML and CSS2 tags for mobile devices, it's just WML itself that I have problems with.
I'm OK... I've been happily playing with my website, added a Prod George W Bush With A Stick feature and a guestbook type thing (which after Fiona's [ab]use I think I might revise a bit)
Ooh and been playing on eBay... online auctions are too tempting Apparently conventional auctions like in Sotherbys which accept bids over the internet as well as from the room almost never sell anything to people in the room any more, as internet bidders are far more likely to get over excited and pay more than the value of the product. I was reading about the auctions of the ITV Digital assets; they were giving the monkeys away free with loads of auctions, but one guy bid £150 for one of the monkeys alone. Compared with the £2 other people were paying.
I have a friend who has a completely legal business buying stuff on eBay and then selling it back on there for more than he bought it for. Makes a mint from it

Great idea. Of course, you need to know how much people are prepared to pay, and what times people bid, and stuff like that. All psychological, of course.
I have a friend who buys and sells a lot on eBay, but I don't think he's got the hang of it yet, as he's losing money
I'm sure I could earn money doing that if I tried, but it would require a lot of dedication and time spent on the site. The alternative is buying something cheap in bulk, like a thousand smartmedia cards or something, and selling them off at a profit. Perfectly practical, but again requires effort, which is a bit of a problem for me
I couldn't do it... too stressful a way of earning money as well *says the guy desperately trying to save a contract*

WHAT??
Its against the ettiquette of h2g2 to advertise yourself in such a way. There are fora where you're allowed to do that, but in general its considered bad form.
Also, capitals are very hard to read and so its considered to be shouting to use them. May I ask if its something to do with the way you're browsing h2g2 that means you find it easier to use them?

HOW D'YOU MEAN?
How are you browsing h2g2?
I'm using a PC and a normal web-browser to access http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/ but you could be using another system, a TV remote control for instance.

WELL IT WAS A REMOTE... UNTIL I GOT A KEYBOARD WHERE I JUST KEEP THE CAPS LOCK ON BECAUSE IT'S QUICKER WITH MY BAD TYPING...
Just type all in lowercase then... capitals are appallingly hard to read and really make our eyes hurt. All lowercase is acceptable though.
How do you get to h2g2 through a TV?
