Being free

The net has wonderful possibilities - for me one of the most powerful is the idea of being free of social stigma, and the pressures people exert when in a social mode.
Unfortunately nearly all the communities and groups on the net seem to have some kind of structure carried over from social "training."(and this to just letters on a screen)
Having spent a great deal of my life under one kind of social pressure or another i tend to do the opposite when i feel under threat - the idea of peaceful existence with myself is paramount.
Let me give you an example of how i am - - --------
instant turn off for many not because you arent interested but because you are suspicious of my motives - perhaps its because you can see them in yourselves and despise them?
But then isnt life made up of stories? when we meet an old friend dont we tell them what has been happening, dont we give someone a funny story for them to enjoy? Perhaps thats only allowed by someone we know and trust?
If thats the case what a shame.
Here i am at 54 and still reacting too strongly when pressured - but i am free and free to create what i desire and need to - i now have the space and time and FREEDOM TO BE AS I CHOOSE AND WANT.
I enjoy writing hugely - i also enjoy the power it gives - i would like to apolagize for my adverse reaction to those who tried to help me with editing some of the pieces i have written, but i was threatened - is that an excuse - no not really, but nor was the threat justified.
I am quite happy to walk away from h2g2 and never return, however i think what is happening here is very important and useful, and whats more i need the exercise.
My experience here so far has indicated that its very unlikely anyone will read this but then the idea is that im free so thats unimportant, but its still a bit sad.
Cheers From Norway.

One lays plans then one moves on - my desire to leave the uk has left me very flat as rith now the workshop is on the market and i have very little work as all my clients think ive left.
OOOh well to other pastures i guess.
Last week i fitted a cupboard for a frined in Taunton. Dont do a lot of these but they are hard work and not very lucrative - require a lot if invention too so they take a lot out. Still i get lots of tea.

This week it looks like a table top for the landlord (in leu of rent)stops for a organ and hopefully a nice little commision for knobs for a copy of a victorian desk.
I guess its the feeling of futility, i need my adventures by the sea, i need to find out if i am going to have work in Norway, but most of all i need to get far far away.

Today i found a hedgehog dead beside the workshop. Apparently part of a litter and 2 adults who have moved into the area. There have been a large amount of rats so Cath has put down poison for them. My little friend had no visible wounds and had been wandering around for a few days very listlessly,
My friend the bantam has been greeting me every morning on the veranda. She has finally lear'nt not to jump into the tea and to be very quiet and civilized when i breakfast. The other day she came marching into the house when the door was left open. I told her very firmly to leave, this she did and marched out over the veranda. On the ground outside she did a large hop and scurried off on a mission.
The ducks are quite a laugh. They come to chill out with me. Sitting just a few feet away they bathe and drink quite happily. Then suddenly its off on a mission. The last to leave is the youngster, who follows like a little ghost ready to flee should anyone notice. Quite often i get home from work to find them all standing around for all the world as if they were having a meeting and id just interrupted. This includes the Bantam hen.
Got on the radio today, You and yours, what a surprise. I wasnt able to go on air the last couple of times, but this time my mail was read out. It simply stated that we should be concerned about the net and computers affecting interpersonal relationships, and the development of the young as they needed person to person contact to fully assimulate interpersonal communication as much of it is through gestures, movements and pherenomes.

Party
Aug 26, 2007

Dont really like working saturdays - i guess being dislectic and working hard the rest of the week kindof makes it a little too much - so i didnt do that much but finished the television stand.
Its not often impleased with my work, but this little piece im very proud of.
Essentialy it is composed of 4 pillars made up of inch by 3 inch pieces of timber joined at the edged then laid into 3 boards. Little gallery on top and 4 ball feet under the lower deck. Used dowel and biscuit construction throughout.

My Pal Julian appeared. Julian is a wonderful guy. Nearly the most self contained person i know.
He lives at the moment in a field and has a rather mm wild life.
Degrees, tremenduous skills with words, great ability with a camera. Huge entries on the net, right now his diet for the last few weeks has mainly consisted of what he can scrounge.
Last week a squirrel he shot in the garden here.
This week a badger roadkill. He says the badger tasted very like ham.
Of course the minute he arrived out came the tea and we sat under the trees outside the workshop eating figs just picked.
Interestingly enough this year the figs are entirely wasp free.

Decided to ask if Julian could come to the party - certainly came the reply, so off we set.
Unfortunately my arthuritis had suddenly decided to become a life threatening disease so i was in a lot of pain. Julian drove.
The evening was very peaceful. Lots of old friends, my friends daughter had a number of her friends around too. Normally i just freeze up in the presence of girls particurlarily in groups - this time Julian made a plunge and shamed me into doing the same.
Yes there was an element of us girls together but we soon had a lively discussion with several dissenting views - useful invigorating and surprising.
Great food and pleasant company, what was especialy invigorating was seeing the bits and pieces id made over the years in use.

Working.
Aug 24, 2007

Had to see the doctor today - he said he felt that i had an incurable disease but thankfully hypocondria has never killed anyone.
Been taking the tea prescribed by Tivertons Chineese doctor. Man what a soup. Heavy to take down too, but ive managed so far and it is working.

The ducks who live with me have a little duckling following along. Man are they mean to it. She finds something - they all pounce on it. She goes for a drink, they come up and push her away and attack if they want one.
She sort of wanders along well behind.
Sad thing ius she will probably do that herself when mature.

Managed to fix the third leg on a pedestal table - and finish the tv unit in american tulip. Very pleased with that - the design is a real stonker.

Figs, inundated with figs. They are about 5 inches long and right now juicy and very sweet.

Party in a medieval manor house tomorrow night - very much looking forward.

My friend the bantham got kidnapped today by the landlords boys.
Well, i gave them a song and dance about how she is the same as a person and should be treated as such.
Than a little bit about how she loves company, and how she really likes being with people - patted my arm, and up she hopped. The boys went wwwwwow.
When i came back from work she was quite happy, i guess my little chat had some affect after all.

Boy racers. The council estate has now several small very souped up cars, i hear them most nights, i recon they have been doing up to 70mph, so its a bit worrying.
Today i learnt one of them lost it - my neighbour was asked to put the hedge back which i guess he did. The car was a complete mess, our hero is going to be charged with everything the boys in blue can think of, and he has a sore head.
What really makes me angry is that its allways drugs. The drugs will vary with the type of scene thyre involved with, but drugs for recreation is something that just dosent sit with me.
The ones doctors prescriber are bad enough.

Have heard nothing of the road rage incident in Exeter. I guess the big guy has decided to leave well alone - after all i did run over his feet.
