hi!
i have decided to form an INNER CIRCLE of friends and to call it the "FREETHINKERS GUILD". anybody is more than welcome to join.
all you have to be is a "freethinker".
a freethinker is "one who forms opinions on the basis of reason independently of authority; especially one who doubts or denies religious dogma." What this means is that to be a freethinker, a person has to be willing to consider any idea and any possibility. The standard for deciding the truth-value of claims is not tradition, dogma, or authorities - instead, it must be reason and logic.
so, if you CONSIDER ANY IDEA AND ANY POSSIBILITY AND YOUR STANDARD FOR DECIDING THE TRUTH-VALUE OF CLAIMS IS REASON AND LOGIC, then WELCOME!
We will not appoint a "leader" because this is not conducive to free thinking. Any hierarchical structure will lead to stifling of ideas and put us at risk of becoming just another 'religion'.
So far, SusY [imagine] and i [?] are members of the Freethinkers Guild.
i know annie and amanda are already freethinkers on h2g2, so i'll just add them into our membership!

reality 1 quantum reality
the very small scale
subatomic quantum particles are NOT discrete. just probabilities. cause and effect may not apply. this can be considered the illusion of another reality that humans have yet to conceive. or, perhaps, can never conceive.
reality 2 newtonian reality
if you increase the size scale to the Newtonian macrocopic scale, the probabilities of the quantum world become [or create the illusion of] discrete physicality. discrete physicality is the illusion of the newtonian world. this illusion IS the reality of the newtonian world.
reality 3
reproducing entities emerge [molecules to genes] and evolve into gene survival machines [organisms], creating the illusion of purpose in life, that purpose being to continue propagation of genes. the illusion of the drive to survive. this illusory purpose can be considered REAL.
reality 4
continued evolution [probably driven by sexual selection] leads to bigger and bigger brains until the neocortex becomes sufficiently complex to engage in complex information processing and manipulation [human thought]. this leads to the illusion of profound meaning and purpose in life, including spirituality. once more, this illusion IS reality for humans.
