Opening and closing doors
Dec 31, 2007
There are bound to be some serious typos in this
'It is not difficult to open doors, the real art is to close them again' Some kind of clerical guy on television
.
I finally made some swingdoors for the living room, Early spring I rebuild part of the open kitchen, as well as straigthened a wall. The storage cupboard, the stairs and a 'toilet cupboard' all had different front ending in the living room. Now there is one wall panelled with mdf with a metal foil on the visible side.
I already regret the material, too fragile
I sandwiched the panels with plywood for the cupboard and the 'toilet cupboard'. The doors for the stairs should swing in and out and be in style with the metal wall on both sides.
Again a sandwich with plywood, now panels on both sides. I have been searching for a good mechanic to make them swing for monthes. Made some test doors for several types.
Previous owner of the house removed a wall seperating the storage, stairs and toilet from the living room. A toilet in the living room, with open kitchen, is out of the question. The remaining ex toilet 'room' has been developed into a storage and utility hub since.
Many archers use the Jont Script < http://www.jont.studioj.dsl.pipex.com/bbc_dna/ >. This way they avoid actually visiting HooToo, but still use 'our' links mainly to unsubscibe from their conversations. Other boards use similar ways, they seem to be pestered by stalkers. This is accountable for numerous newbees.
By the way, did I miss the Quikly downtime or is it still to happen ?
New technology
Oct 9, 2007
Was at a factory site today, on leaving we had a virus check, it seemed there was a virus contaminating all computers that had been using the network.
The virus scanner was a security agent, asking if we had laptops and had have them connected to the company network
. He was also inspecting the car boot with a torch light.
I am starting to get a little worried about a virus you can see if spotted by a torch light.
Announcement . . . . on the wrong page
Sep 4, 2007
Scheduled downtime: September 5 2007 7am-9am
The servers have a scheduled downtime tomorrow morning, from 7am - 9am.
During this time you won't be able to read content on any of the boards.
The upgrade should complete before 9am, but if it runs a little over time the boards could open a little later than normal.
The changes involve only under the hood modifications for the community boards.
That is more then 42 hours !
Jun 8, 2007
Testing will occur between 0200-0700 BST on the following dates:
11-15 June, 2007
18-21 June, 2007

The 10:00 BBC DST SSO drop is going to stay for a while
Apr 24, 2007
The daily logout we experience every night around 10 (10:00 until 10:15) is there to stay for a while.
The SSO server has been 'upgraded' last maintenance and the hot update procedure does not work for the time beeing. We will experience these cold updates daily until the hot fix is back. (unknown date)

Plans are to update the SSO database next Quikend from about 11:00 BBC DST on Saturday 14th April until about 09:00 BBC DST Sunday morning.
Guess it will come down at everybody seemingly to be logged out. Not unlike the Quikly SSO down on sunday night.

Few days ago I installed Firefox 2, faster smarter, more usefull options.
Internet Exploder just installed itself over the previous version

Total Registered Members
991107 Researchers have become members since we launched on April 28, 1999.
99200 Researchers about now.
Something is wrong with the sentence ? We were Researchers before we became member of the site ? We are members, not Researchers anymore ?
When I became Researcher (exactly three years ago) I had a look for some hours, signed in and more or less waited some hours to see what (if) something would happen. Well some things changed after I was online. At first I had been browsing the site in Brunel, only after Registering I was diverted to Alabaster.
Took me several pages to realise it was the same site.
And there was so much to read, many interesting subjects came along. Never had seen any site like this.
