HooTooverary of Epic Preportions
Sep 16, 2012

I have been on h2g2 for Ten Years as of today. Once upon a time I was a member of the Cult Board (remember that?) and joined in a camping trip to Alton Towers, with those who were members of the Board and H2g2. As soon as I got home I signed up and I've been here ever since.

Happy Hootooversary Me.

I've been abused...
Jan 24, 2011

By Professor Brian Cox on Twitter.

He and Dara O'Briain have been pretty disparaging about Astrologers and 'Fortune Teller's' in general, I said it was a science just as much as Astronomy is and to beware of who you abuse as Karma can bite your arse without warning.

His reply "Karma is b******s"

Mine "A proper scientist would sit down calmly and listen to both sides of the story and form a proper opinion"

His reply "B******s"

And I used to respect this man for the way he made Astronomy appeal to the people.

Now I see him for a small minded bigot

Guess What? Yes Another Life Update
Nov 26, 2009

So what's been going on since the summer. I've got a temporary job on a market stall until xmas, then I go back to job hunting with the 'help' (and I use the term loosly) of the DWP/DSS.

Alex has got herself a boyfriend and a college place, she starts in September so that's a weight off my mind.

Me and Stu are plodding along happily.

The tarot readings have come on leaps and bounds and I'm getting good at it now.

That's about it for now

Yet Another Update on My So Called Life
Aug 8, 2009

I'm sitting here on a saturday night crocheting doilies to put my candlesticks on, WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME!!!!!!!!!!! wah

Anyway, as I said a few months back I'm taking up tarot reading and I'm beginning to get the hang of it, I had a little success with predicting the downfall of Max Moseley and the settlement of FIA/FOTA dispute..

I'm now unemployed but hopefully not for long, I'm waiting on one of the local shopkeepers to come to a decision about taking me on if that doesn't happen there's another couple of things I can get my teeth into.

I'm feeling uncannily serene zen about this, a few years ago I would have been in a perminant panic about this but not now. Maybe this New-Age-Hippiness is something I should have done a long, long time ago because it's certainly changed my life for the better

Another update on my so called life
May 7, 2009

And this one is positive.

As some of you know and I mentioned in my last Update, I've taken a new direction in life. I'm studying the art of fortune telling and divination. I've already had some success with Numerology and Iching, so now I'm studying tarot cards, it's a slow process but I'm getting there. And as a result of this new found New-Age-Hippy-ness I'm actually feeling a lot better in myself. In the past I have suffered with depression and mood swings, but this morning, for the first time in decades I bounced out of bed and actually walked to the high street without so much as a twinge. I told my mum over luch that I've been meditating and she didn't laugh or tell me not to be so silly and get my head out of the clouds, so that's another hurdle jumped.

I'm well on my way to being in tune with the Universe and feeling better for it.

Update on my so called life
May 2, 2009

Ok a quick update into what's going on in Reef-land.

Alex (My daughter for those that don't know) passed final assements for St. John Cadets and passed with flying colours. She's now a qualified First Aider

I got my redundancy notice on 1st May, the hospital closes on 31st July, I'm going to be one of Gordon's Million's, but the Iching says I've got to go with the flow and not worry as it will all come right in the end.

I'm taking this fortune telling stuff a bit more seriously now that's I've had a fair amount of success with the Iching and numerology and have taken up Tarot cards, I'm still learning so I'll update any success or failure in a few months time

Understanding Kids
Apr 6, 2008

I'll never understand my daughter's listening habits, she'll go from condeming anything recorded before the year 2000 as ancient to
"Mum can I borrow your Queen CD"
"Mum can you make me a copy of your Queen CD"
"Mum can I borrow your Beatles CD"
"Mum can you put David Bowie on my iPod"

She's watching the Freddie Mercury Concert at the moment

I'll never understand kids

Proud Mum Alert
Feb 9, 2008

My baby's just become a fully fledged St. John's Cadet.

We've been looking for something for her to do outside school for ages, there are no Girl Guide unit's near by and she's not talented enough for singing and dancing but there is a local St John's within walking distance from our house. She's always liked helping people and is alway first on the scene if someone's hurt themselves so we asked if she'd like to do it and she said yes, I did think that it might only last a month or so but no, she'd stuck at it since September and now she's got her certificate, badges and uniform now.

Why Do I Bother?
May 31, 2007

On The Front Page Again
May 24, 2007

My piece on the History of Aston Martin is in prime position on the FP. I'm really proud of this piece for a number of reasons

a) I'm a girl and girls aren't supposed to be petrolheads and write EG's about cars
b) I love Aston Martin's and drool over the DB5 and DBS in Casino Royale more than I do Daniel Craig
c) I used to live near to where the old factories were in Feltham and Hanworth Park.

Celebrate with me, bubbly

Vodka Martini anyone?

It Was Twenty Five Years Ago Today
May 12, 2007

That the Falklands War started in ernest and today I went to a commemoration service in Fareham (A new memorial was unveiled) This was a legitimate war as British Terretory had been occupied (unlike the current one) and where was the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister Elect? same place they were on the 20th anniversary, Nowhere to be seen, now if Lady Thatcher can make it, in her current state of health, I'm sure some of the current government could have dragged their asses down for a couple of hours to pay their respects to those who sacrificed so much for freedom. Shame on you Mr Blair and Mr Brown, I'll bet they'll be first in the queue to commemorate the Iraq war, if it ever ends.

Here's a few pictures, sorry about the quality but I used my phone to take them
