There is not a town or city in the uk where better cheaper food is not available within a few hundred yards of a MacDonalds. Note, I use the term food in its loosest possible sense. Actually not totally... you might have to go more than a few hundred yards if the more heavily promoted and gimmicky McDonalds store has put the local eatery out of business. The number of people who go into McDonalds carrying food from the chippy just after a milkshake is quite high. I think that works out quite well. But then, I live in a patr of Southampton where, on the same road next to each other, there is a McDonalds, Burger King, 2 take-away chicken fast food, a pizza place, a sandwhich take-away, 5 chippies, 4 chinese, 2 indian and various others.
