  | | Thank you EVER SO for the interesting Mandelbrot links. I just visited them all.
I also went to the GuideML Clinic stuff earlier today. Will have to research the other writing tips (Beginners, Collaborative, Workshops) when I get back. I hope I won't be glacially slow at learning this.
<geologic time>...
Your patience astounds me. Thanks again.

  | | Thank you for the Mandelbrot links.
I went to all of them. I also went to the GuideML Clinic earlier today.
I hope to visit the other writing tips later. I hope I'm not messing
up your RL too much. I'm glacially slow at this GuideML
stuff, and couldn't repeat what you'd done in the experimental zone.
I'd like to add you to My Friends list, but you may be counting the
days until I won't be such a nagging newbie bothering you all the time.
I don't understand GuideML

  | | Seems we've both been away for a few days or more... doing that RL thing
Don't fret about being 'glacially slow' with GuideML, it takes a while for the first penny to drop - but soon after there will be a veritable avalanche
And remember... help is always close to hand, either here or at the GuideML clinic

  | | I didn't realize there was a "next list" for this thread. I thought my last postings about being (glacially slow) fell off the edge of the earth or something, and I couldn't find the (1 new post) you sent.
Had all kinds of grand schemes and theories about "computers-out-to-get-me" and whatnot.

  | | I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a 'next list', but I do know that the conversations here on h2 are 'permanent' i.e. they persist in the h2 database
However... the 'conversation' feature in h2's (woefully inadequate) search engine is about as useful as chocolate teapot so finding old threads is an entirely different kettle of pirahnas - unless you know the exact URL of course, and then it's a doodle
If you anticipate wanting to revisit a particular thread in the distant future (esp one that is likely to enter a prolonged period of dormancy), it might be worthwhile saving the URL somewhere safe
I find Gmail very useful for such 'archives' as the inbuilt search engine works at the speed of lightning - and I have a hunch that Google/Gmail will be around for many years to come... and it's free

  | | Hi six7s,
It seems that the hampsters were temporarily relieved from their designated posts last night and were not running the great Hootoo wheel of progress. I see that it's back up and running today.
I had to do a Google search for Akashic Records since I found nothing on the subject in the H2G2 search. How's THAT for long-term thread storage?
I've got a book on XML to familiarize myself with the language and concepts of markup language before jumping back into GuideML Clinic. About the penny/avalanche thing, I hope it doesn't knock me "centsless" when I finally do figure it out! <<exasperated>>

  | | Hiya AV,
I have just re-read what you wrote the other day about a 'next-list'...
Now I don't remember taking any pills, but wow! it looks like I was on some mind-altering substance
OK... the 'next-list'...
I guess - by the way you have been posting to a few threads - that you have figured out by now how these conversation threads work; they're 'forever'... lying in wait for someone/anyone to revive at any time the ham(p)sters are spinning the h2 wheels
Sometimes, threads get posts added to them several times a minute, often simultaneously (hence the term 'simpost' or 'simulpost' entering the vocabulary hereabouts)
Often it happens dozens of times per day, and some threads are posted to only once in a blue moon... which is what I was on about when I started waffling about "keeping URLs on file somewhere"
Shall I shut up now?
