  | | We've (well, I've, since Tom will be busy, but not so busy I can't drop the girls off at the bookstore with him, especially since Faith will need to do her keyboard practice ) got an appointment Wibble afternoon to see if we can qualify for enough on a Homepath Mortgage. There's a place on the correct side of Pacific Ave. (one of what passes as busy streets here--HN may remember riding along to take Faith to school and my commenting on the new stop signs that made actually turning onto Pacific not take forever...) for a certain kid to walk to school by herself, though Tom doesn't like that idea She could always join up with her classmate that walks with his big brother and grandpa on nice days, though... I haven't looked in the house yet, because I want to see if we can get a loan. I do look at it as I drive by to drop off and pick Grace up from her caregiver's house, though--it's only a very few blocks with sidewalk most of the way, and less than half a dozen blocks to the ocean (a couple more blocks for beach access, as the cliff's high enough that the neighborhood's out of the tsunami evacuation zone).

*Much* easier, kelli! If it doesn't work out this time, we'll save up a bit more (help with down/closing costs is great, but appliances cost, too, as does furniture...). Once we have a place and spend our "house savings" we can get back on public healthcare (I'm a part-time employee, Tom's technically self-employed, and while our incomes are more than low enough for healthcare, we can only have the equivelant just under 1 month's worth of paychecks in savings (luckily, the ministry's accounts don't count for most assistance--just for the housing assistance we had, which accounts for the nailbiting every year)). Meanwhile, we just need to stay healthy and uninjured. Colds don't count, of course.
