This story came to me as i was walking home and heard the bell from a cat's collar. It is meant to be flippant and not to be taken too seriously.

rofl I like the conclusion - about leaving when there's no food left.

I obviously don't go to the right kind of parties!stiffdrink

At the parties I've been to, I've identified the following types :

The clinger, who stays close to his/her friends;
The eater, who stays close to the food;
The drinker, who stays close to the drink;
The climber, who tries to impress the boss/the most important person there;
The star , who's the centre of attention;
The drudge, who ends up doing the cleaning up.

I'm afraid I'm often in the last group!

Inner City parties in Sydney have changed in my time.
The last one I went to the "joint" was handed around and
there were drugs everywhere. But when you write a fanciful story
the one thing to avoid is reality. But "food" could also be a metaphor.biggrin

I think we all take turns being the "druge".
My worst party experience was when I went to a party
with very poor lighting. I also probably drank too much
because I found myself connected to a young woman who
was not my type at all. After she took me to an all night
movie marathon, I stopped calling her. That was mean of me but
she was getting way too serious after only two dates.
Parties can have dangerous outcomes if you start sending the wrong signals. Since then I do the cleaning up to avoid the "hunters", who these days tend to be young females. Go figure.biggrin
