The idea was that a hermit is a recluse and would not see any other human beings unless goods were delivered to the house. This being the case, he would not encounter any relatives unless they are delivery persons. Posted Jan 6, 2006 by Spynxxx This is a reply to this Posting   Posting 4 A very timely submission given that most of us have recently had dealings with just folk due to the holiday season and all it's forced get togethers, parties and family gatherings. It does beg the question of what's more dreadful, the tippsy co-worker at the company party who forgets he/she still needs a job come Monday morning or that relative at the reunion who overly imbibes and trots out the family skeletons to eveyones horror and shame.
