Official Washington Taxi's are white.

If you are getting a taxi to Washington in the North East, use a Washington firm if possible, as the sign posts are all numerical zones, with no place names, so most other taxi drivers need directions.

Probably only the first one is of use to your entry, the second one is just for interest, or lack of it. smiley

In Leeds they're white with black bonnet and boot.

Also I'd like to note that minicab drivers will never *directly* ask the customer the way. The conversation will go something like:
"Is that the Ashville Avenue off Kirkstall road?"
"No, Cardigan Road"
"Oh yes, it's at the end near the hospital, isn't it."
"Near the railway station."
"That's where I meant."

Of course, we all know that there is no Ashville Avenue off Kirkstall Road and that the hospital and the railway station are at opposite ends of Cardigan Road, but the driver nevertheless believes he has convinced us he knew where he was going all along.

I live in Washington too! Aren't they supposed to be changing the numbers of the districts to names. So Harraton, 13 may become Harraton, Happyland. I think I read that they want suggestions so I'll try and find out...
