Also I'd like to note that minicab drivers will never *directly* ask the customer the way. The conversation will go something like: "Is that the Ashville Avenue off Kirkstall road?" "No, Cardigan Road" "Oh yes, it's at the end near the hospital, isn't it." "Near the railway station." "That's where I meant."
Of course, we all know that there is no Ashville Avenue off Kirkstall Road and that the hospital and the railway station are at opposite ends of Cardigan Road, but the driver nevertheless believes he has convinced us he knew where he was going all along.
