First, I would like thank all of you fans of DNA for helping me and, well, all of you out of the state of shock we've all been in since last Friday. It's been devastating news and a chaotic week, but I just want you all to know that I'm all comfortably numb again and I feel like mi'm actually going to live. winkeye I'm going away on a well deserved and overdue holiday now, for a week. Back on monday, literally... And here's a final reposting;

Margo Buchanan sang "I Wannabe (A Rockstar)" at the ceremony, and I was thinking that maybe a lot of DNA fans here would like to get the chance to hear it too. Douglas shot the video of Polly miming to the song about a year or two ago, and it's still available at [url removed by moderator]

You'll need Quick Time to see it.

A word of warning though, if you're easily moved, like I am, tears will well up in your eyes watching and hearing the video. But it's absolutely adorable, so go get it.

Also, here's a fairly accurate transcript of the lyrics, which I assume Douglas wrote.

I wanna be a rockstar
Wearing sunglasses
when it’s cloudy
That would be
A wonderful thing to do
I want to go to L.A
And say I hate it
It’s very important

So of course
I wanna be a rockstar
Oh for sure
I wanna be a rockstar

I’d like to go on TV
And have someone ask me
What to do about world peace
It’s very important
And then we’ll talk about clothes
Who knows?
It’s very important
It’s just the way that it goes

So of course
I wanna be a rockstar
Oh for sure
I wanna be a rockstar

You can do anything and you can say anything and you can be anyone of all
Seems to me
That being a rockstar’s the thing to be

I’d love to go blonde
Not yellow
But
What about the rainforests?
Very important too
Ooh so what do you do?
If you have no rain
Tear up your hair
And all this drugs
And all that other stuff
I’ll take as many as I like
And in the Betty Ford
I’ll document my rise and fall
And send it to the news of the world
And the radio

And so of course
I wanna be a rockstar
Oh for sure
I wanna be a rockstar
Don’t you know
Me and myself and my guitar
Yeah for sure
I wanna be a rockstar
Wearing sunglasses

Mark I'm sorry. I did it again. But don't bother editing out all these &%¤#" and all, I'm sure we all understand and can correct it by our selves. Maybe you could use another weekend of fishing now?

All the best

Dukey

I think you need Quick Time 5. I tried it with QT 3 nad that didn't work. You can download it from the apple homepage, it's round 8 mb bif, so it will take a while if you have a slow connection.
Good luck!

Thanks for posting this. I saw Douglas Adams at the TED Conference showing off the video he had made using iMovie with Rockstar as the soundtrack. I picked up the audio from the Apple web site and have had it in my library since. The origins of the song were always a mystery to me, and as I was cleaning up my library today, I listened again, then did a search leading me here (10 years after... ).
