Hi Bernadette, I couldn't find the parent & child threads so I thought I'd ask you directly...

I've a friend who's just announced she's pregnant for the 4th time and they're looking for a suitable vehicle to move around 4 kids...

Any recommendations from experience? How do you get four safety seats into a car?

We had to get an MPV when we got our third car seat, since we couldn't fit three in the back of our Astra.

We had an Espace, which was nice to drive but broke down with regularity (though to do it justice it was ten years old when we bought it) and now we have a Toyota Emina which takes up to six car seats and two adults and has plenty of boot space for a pushchair (8 seater). I quite enjoy driving it, and a sliding door is a huge advantage when fitting a wide car into a parking space. It was top of my list when looking for a new car - that, or a Lucida or Previa which are the same car but built for different markets.

I'd definitely advise taking the bulkiest pushchair you can find when trying out cars, borrow one if necessary, since some are really stingy on luggage space. A lot of people recommend the Zafira, but we couldn't get our buggy into one, let alone any shopping as well.

Sorry to take a while to answer this; we're trying to sell our house at the moment and I spend most evenings sorting out several years' worth of junk instead of on the internet. It's a mammoth task that doesn't seem to be getting any smaller, no matter how long I spend on it.

Thanks... I'll pass this across (Thankfully I've only one little monster to move around).

Good luck with the house clearance... I've always been amazed at just how much junk it is possible to accumulate in a relatively short period of time.
