  | | Brava, MR!
On a side note to Marv, I wanted to let you know what to expect during your border crossing this Thanksgiving--if you are still going to Calgary. Officially you need two forms of ID--one of which needs to be a picture. While a passport is not required for US citizens to enter into Canada and vice versa, the picture in your passport (an expired one is okay too) will work as the picture ID. A birth certificate usually works as the other.
But, from what our office has heard, what the border guards require and do depends on who you get and what sort of day they're having. We've gotten numerous complains about the abusive agents at one Port of Entry on the US side. Don't worry--you won't be going through that one if you are going straight up on Interstate 15 to Calgary. Just make sure you bring everything and put on your best smile. Oh, and be patient. There might be a bit of a wait.

Good job, MR.
The pathetic excuse for a DMV that we have in NJ is trying to stop people from getting licenses based on false id and purchasing cars that they can convert to sniper friendly vehicles. Sooooo, I should have known better than to think renewing my license would be simple this year.
I have an old style license without photo that I can renew by mail. But no, I thought I'd be a good citizen and trundle off to the office to get one of those new-fangled picture licenses. At first I thought I was in like Flynn, they weren't experiencing a shortage of Polaroid film like some of the offices. (Looks ly at the giggling Salonistas who live in states that use digital photos.) Then I saw the sign.
<sign> Those who wish to convert from non-picture to picture licenses can only do so if they present proof of residency and citizenship. The expiring license is not, we repeat, not sufficient. You must present a birth certificate with raised seal or a passport. </sign>
I've been licensed continuously in NJ for 30 years. God forbid they have a computer system that can confirm that. I guess I'm going back tomorrow, passport in hand.

  | | No, I mean it, your intro was quite good, saying important things in a concise way (eg that I have joined the Atelier )
*dives in the tub, causing the water to splash around* Oops... *goes out dripping and sweeps the water off the floor, then goes back in* Hmm, I needed that. Just spent five hours on a walk through Paris with my little brother. We went to the tropical garden in the botanical park, then to the Latin Quarter and Notre-Dame. Of course, since he was tired at once, I had to take him on my elbows. I crave for sleep, but it's only half past eight, so if I go to bed now I'll wake up at six or something.
*wonders what he's going to read this evening*
