A couple or three times over the years, I've mentioned part of a quote that I couldn't complete. By chance I came across it half an hour ago.
I thought it was by a Roman Centurion. It is often misattributed to Petronius - a Roman of course but not a Centurion. But then - seemingly, it actually belongs to Charlton Ogburn in "Merrill's Marauders: The truth about an incredible adventure" (1957).
