Ok, so here's a delimna for my fellow geeks out there:

Slackware or Fedora?

I am dual booting my home computer - after wiping her and starting over from scratch - with a Linux flavor and WinXP. (Please don't hate me too much, I have to have something to play games on. laugh ) I have direct access right now to Slackware and Fedora (Red Hat's new home flavor) and want to hear opinions on which one to use.

(Well, that and things quieted down at work and I'm looking for something to keep me awake. Linux debates are always sooooooooo interesting! biggrin )

Good Doctor Zomnker (This must be Tuesday," said GDZ to himself, sinking low over his Dr. Pepper, "I never could get the hang of Tuesdays.")

I think I'm going to start off with Slack on Goddess, actually.

I have also just bought an old [read: ancient dinosauresque] laptop which I am going to run Vector on. Should be an interesting experiment.

Say, does anyone have any floppy disks I can use? laugh

Never tried Slackware.
Linux on Laptops is an interesting issue as they can have all sorts of funny hardware and interactions. There are plenty of sites which have info for the various laptop things and installing/running linux. Then again I've not tried installing Linux on a laptop either.

That's why I'm doing it with an older distro and a laptop old enough to be Goddess' grandfather. (Practically the truth, that. Its an old P75. winkeye )

I've got a good friend who swears by Slack - and provided me with my copy, come to think of it - and actually has it running on his lapdog... er, laptop. Of course, his is a bit more up to date, running a PIV 3.0gig processor, hyperthreaded of course. envy

I'll let you know how it goes on both boxes, Phil. ok
