An "A number" means the letter "A" followed by a number, and it identifies an entry. The last digit of an A number is a checksum digit, so not every possible number represents an entry: A1234 is an invalid A number because the 4 doesn't match the 123. A1233 is a valid A number because the checksum 3 matches the 123, even though the entry A1233 has been deleted. There are two bugs here: 1. Pliny does not display A numbers in conversations as links to the entry if they occur at the start of a line. It does display links if they occur anywhere else in the conversation. 2. Pliny displays an A number as a link even if it is an invalid A number (with an invalid checksum). This is different from Ripley, where only valid A numbers were displayed as links.
