>We all lead interesting lives, and your Journal is the place to tell everyone exactly what makes your days buzz by.<

The above is what it says at the top of the page when you prepare to do a journal. Trouble is, today hasn't been an interesting day apart from the 2 minute silence at 11am.space rose space peacedove

Its been a grey, wet but mild day leading to yet another daft situation where it was colder, by quite a large margin, in the flat than outside.
As this happens on a regular basis and as gas prices are exorbitantly high, (nearly 4 times electric prices) I picked up a bargain when out shopping yesterday.
I got a 'Warmlight' heater. Its basically a Halogen light heater, it has 3 such lights each rated at 400w. The heater itself can stand in one position or you can switch it to oscillate. Its total output being 1200w is over a third less than the maximum on the housing associations installed 3 bar 70's style electric fire. 2 of the bars on this are 1kw each, 1 is 2kw. To have all 3 on at once sends the electric meter into a tailspin and is just as unaffordable as gas.
So far with the warm light heater I've only needed one bar on, the heat is instant and constant and a damm sight cheaper to run than both the gas and t'other thing. I find the light emmitted from it somewhat soothing too.
Definitely a good buy @ £14.00. biggrin
Just gotta find a way to stop the mad moggie hogging it all the time now. laugh

It's gone very cold here, too. Fortunately, it's warmer inside than out. Glad you found a good deal which will give you warmth at a reasonable price. smiley

Jumpers, my friend, jumpers - lots of 'em. biggrin

We are now seeing the heaters you describe in the shops here. Friends that have bought them swear by them. I tested a few in the shops and they do seem remarkably good.

My wife suggested that we buy a couple, but in a bid to alleviate a potential spike in our electricity consumption, I baffled her with a bit of science.

She's now well aware that the heating elements only obtain acceptable efficiency when the earth's core is rotating anti-clockwise to the movement of Venus. This is unlikely to happen until March 2012, and by then we'll no longer need them.

She agreed and took up my offer of purchasing new socks. winkeye
