There had been a number of posts to the conversation since the reply, so it wasn't the last in the conversation or the last on the page. The conversation is here: http://www.h2g2.com/forums/A148907/...sation/view/F19585/T242934/page/583 . My post is 11656, the reply is 11657. I clicked 'Reply' under 11657, but was told 'You are replying to this message' and was shown the text for post 11660 - the last posting on the page. Basically, if you're replying to a post that's not at the end of the conversation, the system seems to think you're replying to the last post on the page. It's just as well we don't have the 'previous post' arrow or 'post replied to' arrow yet. They'd go to the wrong post. Earlier this morning I posted a reply to the response to a post I'd made yesterday. There had been a number of posts after the response, so it wasn't the last in the conversation. The conversation was Petty Hates in Ask h2g2, my original post was 16656 and the response was 16657. I clicked 'REPLY' under post 16657, but the text under 'You are replying to this message:' was for post 16660, the last post on the page. It looks like 'the system' is assuming that replies are to the last post in the conversation, or the last post on the page, whichever is closer. Just after I tried to report this earlier, the site became unavailable. I assume that's why I had trouble posting. Yes, unfortunately the current APIs always send back the last post on a conversation regardless of which post you're replying to, and it's very annoying. Thanks for noticing I've not changed the wording to reflect this, I though I had so I'd better get that sorted. Unfortunately we can't fix this until we build some new APIs.
