|Hang on, I thought your point was that Jesus' birthday is Christmas, regardless of when you celebrate it. A birthday is a birthday, it's just that Jesus' has a special name. Heck, on the 12th of December it's Vipmas. |
For political reasons, the date was changed to coincide with numerous other winter festivals, but the name 'Christmas' has always been associated with Jesus. Before this date, the term 'Christmas' didn't exist. People may have celebrated Yule or other winter festivals instead, but they weren't 'Christmas'.
